Focused on shirts – for men, ladies and kids, Sui-Joh has a good reputation for quality clothes and bags that are produced at their workshop in Phnom Penh. The brand was born in 2012 with Cambodia’s “tailoring culture” and quality in mind, and is now famous within the Japanese community in Phnom Penh.

The owner and designer, Mr. Asano, always had a love of shirts, but had no experience in the apparel industry. After quitting his day job and relying on savings to commute to Cambodia for graduate schooling, his shirts began to wear out. A fellow student took him along to a tailor as having shirts tailored in Cambodia is common. At first he was delighted with the fit, but found that other shops would vary greatly in quality. One Japanese craftsman would teach him about pattern paper and the sewing industry, and this would lead to his company forming. He took lessons in business development, and after having troubles with employees not seeing eye-to-eye, gradually came to understand he needed to understand their point of views better. He understands he is a foreigner working in their country, and sells “Cambodian developed” fashion.
